perception and reality

There’s an old adage in public relations: if you want people to stop thinking of you as an SOB you must first stop behaving like one.

Of course, not everyone who uses PR is an SOB, but here’s the point: when it comes to public opinion, perception is reality. You are what your audiences think you are — and often they’re right.

What you do and say - or don’t do and say -influences perceptions and shapes who you are and how you act.

As a PR practitioner, I strive to help clients create positive perceptions by saying and doing what is right, honest, and fair, because, at the end of the day, that’s what good public relations is all about.
